Goodwood Festival of Speed DAY 2 - Friday

Day 2 here down here at the Goodwood House for the annual Festival of Speed and what a follow up from the first day. The crowds are bigger, the cars are louder and the experience is as always out of this world.

Kicking off the second day we saw a real mixed bag of vehicles. From pre-war retro cars to BTCC tin-top titans and the drifting monsters. These will for sure wake you up after a night of camping!

These were followed by some of the V8 beasts from across the pond, with the Brickyard Heroes of NASCAR. With the sound that they create, who cares if they only turn left?! These monsters were accompanied by some legends of rally including cars from the late, great Colin McRae and Richard Burns.

2022 marks a very special year for car enthusiasts. As it marks the 75th anniversary of the most famous car brand on the planet; Ferrari. To mark the celebration a host of classic and brand new Ferrari's took to the hill, this included the likes of the the priceless Ferrari 250 GTO, the bullish 156 F1 'Sharknose' and the F2008, which nearly delivered Felipe Massa his first world title if it wasn't for Lewis Hamilton snatching it away from him in the dying seconds.

On that subject, we arrived at the main event; the Formula 1 cars. They did not run yesterday so the crowds were pining to see their heroes' cars in the flesh and they did not disappoint. Starting off in 1955 with the Connaught B-Type and finishing in 2019 with the Mercedes AMG W10, which delivered Lewis Hamilton his 6th world championship. From V6 Turbo Hybrids to the screaming V8s of the 2000s era, the sounds of these cars is enough to make grown men weak and children cover their ears.

As well as all this we had classic cars from the 24 Hours of Le Mans, brand new cars from the likes of Aston Martin and a 2000bhp electric Ford Transit, no I am not making this up, that thing was rapid!

Sometimes you don't even have to enter the main festival site to see some world class machinery either! As walking back I encountered three, yes three Pagani's! A Huayra and two Zonda F's. Truly breathtaking.

Overall another incredible day at Goodwood and the rain stayed away once again. Let's hope this continues into the weekend.

As always, follow the madness on our socials to stay up to date with all the antics from around the festival site.
